Pre-Health Liaison Mentor Program

Program Mission Statement

As the number of pre-health students increases, there becomes an increasing need for resources. The Simmons Pre-Health Liaison is providing another layer of support by creating this mentoring program. Underclassmen will have direct access to upperclassmen who are knowledgeable about their track and the college experience. Through this relationship we hope it will help students navigate through both their social and academic careers.

Program Goals

  • Help underclassmen assimilate to the Simmons culture/environment

  • Nurture and facilitate a relationship between the older pre-health students and younger pre-health students, improving the pre-health community (this is especially crucial now that we are online)

  • Increase social and academic confidence (underclassmen)

  • Strengthen communication and teamwork skills (upperclassmen)

Group Expectations

  • Mentees and mentors should be in contact with each other at least twice a month via email, text, call, or zoom.

  • Both mentor and mentee must attend the two mandatory meetings the Pre-Health Liaison will host for this program (September Kick-Off and Mid-Semester Check-In)

  • Both parties of the relationship must answer surveys sent out by the E-Board

  • If there are any questions or concerns, emails can be sent to the Pre-Health Liaison at prehealth-liaison@simmons.edu

Program Information

This is a newly implemented year-long program. Applications to be in the program will be sent around August/September and will be open again briefly before the spring semester for late entries. The Pre-Health Liaison E-Board performs all the matching manually to ensure each pair has something in common with one another. Any inquiries can be made to prehealth-liaison@simmons.edu
